LINGERIE

Babydoll, = A short nightgown or negligee intended as nightwear for women.
Bandeau Bra = A strapless knit, wide band worn around the bust line. This type of bra is best for the young and self-supporting.
Basque, a tight, form-fitting bodice or coat
Bedjacket, worn over a nightgown or negligee for warmth and modesty.
Bikini, A low cut panty.
Blanket sleeper
Bloomers An old fashioned form of feminine underwear consisting of loose fitting underpants with short legs.
Bodystocking, a unitard.
Bodysuit, a leotard-like undergarment, usually skintight or formfitting.
Bodice, covers the body from the neck to the waist. The upper part of a dress.
Boning, Rigid supports sewn vertically into a bustier or corset that help to maintain a slim, shapely look about the torso. Originally made from bone (hence it's name), but now made of plastic.
Boxers, Loose fitting under shorts.
Boy shorts, a style of panties, so named for their resemblance to male shorts.
Brassiere (Bra) Undergarment designed to provide shape and support for the breasts.
Brief A panty whose waistband rests at or just below the navel, provides full back and side coverage. A variation to a brief is a hi-cut brief which has a hi-cut leg..
Brocade, Rich oriental fabric consisting of raised patterns, often in gold or silver.
Burnout, Alternating patterns of sheer and opaque fabric.
Bustier One-piece garment that uses flexible boning to give a desired shape. Its lenght varies, going from the bust to anywhere between the rib cage and hips.

Camisole,Light garment fashioned to wear under blouses that covers from bust to waist. Usually sleeveless, camisoles traditionally offer little if any breast support. Cami sets include a thong or g-string.
Camiknickers, camisole and knickers joined as one garment
Camouflage A fabric pattern characterized by random patches of earth tones. While camouflage clothing is typically worn for concealment, wearing our camouflage items in public will hardly make you less noticeable!
Catsuit A full-body stocking. Generally long sleeved and made out of stretchy material. Was made popular in the 1960's Avengers television series by actress Diana Rigg
Cheeky, exposes the bottom part of the buttocks
Chantilly lace, Delicate lace made from an open, six-sided mesh background with floral designs.
Charmeuse,An opaque (i.e., not see through), shiny fabric.
Chemise, Short under dress or slip.
Chenille,Chenille fabric used in lingerie is an imitation of chenille yarn. The fabric has patterns of soft, protuding loops of fiber that look and feel similar to the chenille yarn used to make sweaters, throw pillows, blankets and other such items..
Chiffon,A lightweight, sheer fabric.
Corsage,A floral fashion accessory.
Corsage by elastic, covering the body from the neck to the waist, similar to a corset.
Corset,A snug fitting garment designed to cinch the waist and lift the breasts. Lacing in the back allows the corset to be adjusted for comfort..
Corset by bone,a bodice worn to mold and shape the torso.
Corselet = Brassiere + Girdle
Criss-cross straps,Straps which cross in the back..
Crochet knit,A large, open knit pattern that resembles crocheting.
Crop top,A very short top extending to just below the breasts.
Crotchless,A convenient slit or opening in the fabric covering the crotch area.
Cut and Sew Bra A bra with seams in the cups is a cut and sew bra. Most lace cups are cut and sew. the more seams there are in the cups, the greater the support.

Demi cupsDemi cups, or half cups, have a lower line which reveals more of the upper breasts.
Dot netSheer net fabric decorated with evenly spaced opaque dots.
Dotted swissEvenly spaced raised dots on sheer material.
Drawers a pant-like garment worn during the 19th century for modesty and warmth. Some drawers were split-leg, in that the crotch seam was left open.
Drawstring waistA string or strip of fabric sewn into the band which draws the waist up for a snug fit and is then tied into a bow.
EmbroideryDecorative designs sewn into fabric by hand or machine.
Eyelash laceLace garment with strands at the edges that resemble eyelashes.
Faux furMan made fur (i.e., not taken from animals)
Faux leatherImitation leather.
Fence NetA large, thin open net.
FishnetCoarse, open mesh fabric noted for its sex appeal.
FlutterA panty style with a strip of fabric around the sides that is elastic on top, but loose on the bottom.
French cutA panty style with a strip of fabric around the sides that is elastic on top, but loose on the bottom.
French Knicker This is a panty that looks like a boyshort except the back does not have elastic in the legs so does not cup your cheeks.
French maid, a form of ladies' fantasywear
FringeDecorative thin strips or strings, usually hanging from the hem line.
Full Figure Women who wear bras sizes 32-36DD and 38-42C-DD and larger are classified as full figure women.
G-String/Thong, a narrow piece of cloth passes between the buttocks, and is attached to a band around the hips, worn as a bikini bottom or as underwear by both men and women.
Garter An elastic leg band originally designed to hold up stockings but now just used for added sex appeal.
Garter belt (US) aka Suspender belt (British), used to keep stockings up
Garter Panty, A panty usually made of stretch fabric which contains garter straps or garter clips to hold up stockings without need for a garterbelt, girdle or corset.
Girdle, The name given to any undergarment that is close fitting, often boned and usually elasticized, that extends from the waist to below the hips.
Gown, A long dress usually extending to the ankles.
G-String, A panty consisting of a triangular patch of fabric connected with thin, elastic straps in back and around the waist completely exposing the buttocks.
G-string back Only a thin piece of elastic is used in the back and around the waist, exposing all of the buttocks.

Halter neck Garment wraps around the neck for support and, optionally, may be tied behind the neck (halter tie) or include a clasp (halter closure).
Halter topA short top held up at the neck usually exposing the shoulders and upper back.
Hook back Garment closes in back with one or more hooks.
Hook front Garment closes in front with one or more hooks.
Hook side(s)Garment closes at the side(s) with one or more hooks.
Hot PantsVery short pants.
Hosiery Socks and stockings.
Inner capA lining inside of a wig that prevents tangling and if adjustable, allows the wig to fit virtually any size head.
JacquardFabric characterized by an intricate weave or pattern. Originally named after French inventor Joseph-Marie Jacquard who invented a loom capable of producing this fabric.
Jersey nightshirt - A long, loose T-shirt made of cotton, polyester, nylon or diaphanous chiffon that can be worn like a Babydoll.
Kimono Japanese inspired light and loose robe that is traditionally floor length, though current styles offer shorter varieties.
Knickers
Lace-up Front, Lace-up Back or Lace-up sideGarment laces up for decoration and/or for an adjustable fit.
Leotard
LiningAn extra layer of fabric sewn into the inside of a garment for added comfort or modesty.
Maternity Bra A bra designed for women who are pregnant. A maternity bra will offer more support with wider sides and an underbust band. Non-elastic straps to reduce bounce.
Merry widow
MeshA knit or woven fabric consisting of small, evenly spaced holes.
MicrofiberAn extremely fine synthetic fiber usually woven into soft, light weight, washable, breathable fabrics.
MiniskirtA very short skirt with a hemline that can extend anywhere from just below the buttocks (micromini) to mid-thigh.
Naughty & Nice
Negligee A French expression to identify a woman's flimsy night gown; especially one that is lace-trimmed.
NetA knit or woven fabric with an open-mesh pattern of evenly spaced holes.
Nightgown or Nightie, a loosely hanging item of nightwear, may vary from hip-length (babydoll) to floor-length (peignoir).

Open bust / tipLittle or no coverage is provided over the breasts. In general, open bust means there is no cup whatsoever while open tip usually means there is a cup, but with an opening over the nipple area.
Open rearNo fabric or elastic covers the area between the buttocks.
Padded cupsCups that contain padding, sometimes removable, for those with smaller breasts that might not otherwise fill out the cups.
Pajamas Loose-fitting nightclothes comprised of a jacket or top and trousers.
Panties Women's underpants.
PantyhoseClose fitting hosiery offering coverage from toes to waist.
Patent leatherReal or synthetic leather with a smooth, shiny surface on one side.

PipingA decorative cord sewn along the edges of a garment.
PouchA man's g-string.
Princess lineVisible seams which resemble an hourglass shape for a figure flattering look.
Push-up cupsCups containing padding, sometimes removable, designed to push the breasts up to create a more flattering cleavage.
Removable gartersElastic straps which attach to stockings to hold them up, but which can be removed if stockings won't be used.
Removable padsPads which can be removed from the cups, if desired.
RibbedFabric with raised vertical 'ribs' usually made into form fitting designs
Robe,A loose fitting coverup.

SequinsSmall shiny discs used to reflect light and add interest to a garment.
ShawlA wide scarf worn about the shoulders.
ShapewareModern term for fitted women's underwear designed to hold part of the body in a particular form.
Shelf cupsCups which only provide support and coverage underneath the breasts exposing the nipples.
Silicone cupsCups which are padded with silicone instead of fiber. Silicone tends to provide a smoother, more natural look and a more comfortable fit
SilkA natural fiber produced by silkworms that is revered for its luxuriously soft feel.
Silk KnitSilk fabric which stretches and clings to the body.
Slinky KnitA soft, elastic knit fabric which conforms to the shape of the body.
Slit(s)A narrow vertical split in the fabric usually added for ease of movement or sex appeal.
Snap CrotchCrotch snaps/unsnaps for convenience.
Slip (Full slip and Half slip / Underskirt)
Spandex/Lycra Spandex is the generic term for fabric created from elastic thread which helps a garment to stretch for a better fit and added comfort. Lycra is a well known brand of spandex.
Spanky-Pants, "Spankies" (color-coordinated underpants worn by cheerleaders)
Stay upStockings with a rubber grip inside the top that helps to prevent them from slipping down the leg.
StockingsHosiery providing coverage from over the knee or mid-thigh to the toes.
StraplessA garment without shoulder straps.
Stretch laceLace which stretches (providing a better fit and more comfort).
String Bikini A bikini panty with high cut leg line, thin string sides and full back coverage.
Suspender styleStockings, pantyhose or bodystocking where the legs are held up by an attached waist band, sometimes styled to look like a garter belt. The front and back are usually open, so some may prefer to wear a g-string or thong underneath.

Velcro side(s)Garment attaches at the sides using Velcro allowing quick removal.
VelvetFabric with a short, soft, dense pile noted for its luxurious feel.
Venice laceFirm, heavy lace with an open background, usually in floral leaf patterns.
Waist Nipper Waist nippers offer firm control of the waist and tummy. They are a boned garment that starts under the bust and goes down to the waist or over the hips.
WristletA decorative, elastic band worn around the wrists.
Zipper frontGarment closes/opens in the front with a zipper.
